The Authenik Byrek Food Truck brings to Philadelphia and all the surrounding areas the flavors and the artisan pie making of the Ballkan region. Proper Byrek pies are pretty difficult to make. After all, genuine excellence and mouth-watering flavours don't just come out of nowhere. It takes a special something to create a pie that's, well, better.
What is Byrek
Originated more than 700 years ago, Byrek is a flaky pie made out of Phyllo-dough and is usually filled filled with meats, veggies, and cheese. It is a traditional dish found in many countries including Albania, Greece, Turkey and in many others . Byrek is also known as börek, burek, byorek, byurek, bouréki, bourekas, spanakopita, etc.

Five star!! I was pleasantly surprised to see something new in the food truck scene. I never tried a byrek before. I was a bit skeptical but the owners were very nice so I figure I'd try it. It was the best decision I've made all week! I had the classic with ground beef and onion. This byrek is a savory, thin pastry that is very similar to a pot pie crust, except more fluffy. The filling is the lovechild of a Philly cheesesteak and an English meat pie. When I eat pot pie, I have always wanted more of that delicious crust, with the byrek, the whole thing is covered in pastry dough! My byrek came hot and fresh from the oven. I feel like I'm visiting a friend and their grandma just baked this for me

I have been meaning to write this review for so long because that's how sweet they are! I went there for my manager's birthday and because I had been dying to try byreks. When I got there, the owner (I'm so sorry I don't know if I ever asked what your name was) asked me about my manager and I told him it was a surprise for his birthday. Once he heard that, he threw in aryan in the house! I thought it was just milk LOL (I was close)! Anyway, my manager Chim was so happy and even thought I made the byreks hahahaha I wish. Shumë falemimderit!!! :p

My first visit and won't be my last! I got the ground beef. It was very good. I was looking for something filling and not heavy...this is the way to go...the pastry is light and the meat was seasoned well. A little too much pepper for my taste, but I could deal with it. I highly recommend this food truck...something different than the usual sandwiches and cheesteaks.

We hired Authentik Byrek to cater our wedding, and it was the best decision we could have made. We worked closely with one of the owners, Arber, and he went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help us - he set up tastings to make sure we were not just happy, but ecstatic about the menu, he was excellent with communication... he even took it upon himself to come do a site visit the week before the wedding so that there was no room for error on the day. The staff was excellent and super friendly. And the food was unbelievable... our guests are still raving about the food! Arber even added extras to the menu (no charge), so that there would be plenty of food. It really shows how passionate he and his staff are about their business and it made our wedding day so enjoyable and stress-free. I can't recommend Authentik Byrek enthusiastically enough - to cater an event or just to grab a delicious, savory, amazing bite to eat - you won't regret it!!!!!
